Starr Ortiz

Project Associate

Starr is a recent graduate of SUNY Potsdam with a Bachelor of Arts degree in speech communications and a minor in sociology. While at the university, Starr participated in numerous fundraising and community service events which ignited her interest in the not-for-profit field. Starr joined a sorority where she quickly took on the job of Fundraising Chair. In that role, Starr was responsible for hosting fundraising events for Potsdam students as well as for its community members. In fact, the team she led was awarded Relay for Life’s Gold Team member status two years in a row.

Starr was also part of the Diversity and Inclusion Action Coalition for SUNY Potsdam where she worked on the communications and outreach committee. As a student member, she worked alongside faculty to promote the committee and collaborated with other school organizations to develop diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Starr is excited to join the JFM team as a Project Associate and looks forward to learning more about fundraising, strategy and event planning. During her non-work hours, Starr likes to read, spend time with her family and friends and travel.
